FIFA World Cup 2026 Mexico Complete Travel Guide

Hello and welcome!

My name is Maria Garcia from Mexico, and I am the voice behind this OneTime Blog. This platform is designed to provide readers with reliable and informative content, always intended for good purposes.

Our goal is to ensure you enjoy the FIFA World Cup 2026 without any worries especially by avoiding scams related to tickets and fraudulent websites.

As you may know, Mexico gets the honor of hosting the opening match of the World Cup on June 11 against South Africa at Estadio Azteca in Mexico City.  This match marks the start of the 48-team tournament, with Mexico also hosting games in Guadalajara and Monterrey.

As Mexicans, we are really excited and proud to host the FIFA World Cup 2026. It is a unique opportunity to showcase our country to the world. At the same time, I want to share some useful tips to help people avoid scams when buying tickets or navigating websites that may look official but are actually fraudulent.

How will I have the chance to purchase ticket(s) for the FIFA World Cup 2026™?

You will have the opportunity to purchase ticket(s) during the FIFA World Cup 2026™ sales phases, all of which are or will be available exclusively at FIFA.com/tickets. Each sales phase may differ in terms of purchasing processes, payment methods, ticket categories and ticket products. Tickets in each sales phase are subject to availability and the applicable terms and conditions.

This is the last chance to buy tickets:

The final sales phase of the tournament will be the Last-Minute Sales Phase, beginning on 1 April 2026 at 11:00 am (Eastern Time) / 8:00 am (Pacific Time) / 9:00 am (Mexico City Time) / 17:00 (Central European Time) and closing at the end of the tournament on 19 July 2026. Tickets will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis, and purchases will be processed as real-time transactions, subject to availability. All successfully purchased tickets will be confirmed immediately to the ticket purchasers.

The Last-Minute Sales Phase operates on a first come, first served basis, and all tickets are subject to availability. During the purchasing process, you will need to choose the matches, seat locations and number of tickets you wish to purchase. Please note that seat options may vary and are subject to availability.

Will there be an opportunity to purchase tickets directly at the stadium for the FIFA World Cup 2026™?

No, tickets will not be available for purchase at the stadiums during the FIFA WorldCup 2026 as there will be no over-the-counter ticket sales. Please note that FIFA.com/tickets is the official and preferred sales hub for purchasing FIFA World Cup 2026™ tickets.

There are significant risks associated with purchasing tickets outside of the official platform. Even when tickets are offered for resale, the risk is really high. Prices that appear unusually high or suspiciously low should be treated with caution, as they often indicate scams or invalid tickets. In most cases, the potential loss outweighs any perceived benefit.

For this reason, I strongly recommend purchasing tickets only through the official FIFA website. Given the global scale of the FIFA World Cup, fraudulent activity tends to increase, particularly during high-demand periods such as last-minute sales.

Tickets sold on unofficial websites, social media or third-party vendors may be fake. Even if the tickets look legitimate, they can still be rejected at the stadium gate, leaving you without entry on match day.

Some scammers sell the same ticket to multiple buyers or resell tickets that have been voided by FIFA Ticketing.

  • Even if a ticket scans at the gate, you may be denied entry if it is flagged as invalid or already used
  • Unofficial sources often inflate prices significantly, especially for high-demand matches like knockout stages or rivalry matchups, without any guarantee of authenticity.

5 Steps you can use to identify whether a ticket or a website might be fake:

  • Official ticket sales are centralized
  • If a Website is not linked or referenced by FIFA, be cautious
  • Scammers often create "lookalike" sites
  • Misspellings (e.g., "fifaa", "fifaa-tickets2026'" "fifAtickets") etc
  • Extra words or unusual extensions (.net, .xyz instead of .com)
  • Subdomains that look confusing ( Even if they show "HTTPS") do not guarantee legitimacy.
  • Prices that are too cheap or extremely expensive could mean it is likely fake or a scam.
  • Be careful with tickets sold through Facebook, Instagram, Messaging apps or private sellers.
  • Scammers often use fake profiles, pressure you to pay quickly, and refuse secure payment methods.

If something feels rushed, unclear, or too good to be true, it usually is. The safest approach is to stay patient and only purchase through verified sources.

And if by any chance you get scammed, these are the Websites and phone numbers you can use to make a claim in Mexico (all these are official sites from the Government of Mexico)
